Hello beauty experts! We are seeking a unique individual to cover maternity leave within the WGSN Beauty team for a 12-month period. 

 

This exciting position offers you the opportunity to join WGSN's world-class global content team where you'll research, write, and create forecasts that help our beauty clients succeed and stay ahead of the curve.

Role overview 

 

As a Beauty Analyst, you'll have an excellent knowledge of beauty brands, products and an instinctive eye for trends, and be able to provide top-notch insight and strategic direction on products, design and consumer trends. Additionally, you will be an advocate for sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity in all our content. 

 

We're looking for someone who can to work across all beauty categories, but especially skincare, colour cosmetics and haircare, and although you maybe nearer the beginning of your career, you will have some experience within the beauty sector, either in design, product development, buying, beauty journalism or trend forecasting . You will be able to create and communicate compelling and strategic narratives around beauty trends, and you'll also be comfortable using data to inform your work and interpreting that data to inform forecasts. 

 

Reporting to the Director of Beauty, you'll work with a global team of strategists and analysts to create best-in-class content - including social and video - and also collaborate with the wider WGSN content team on projects. And finally, you’ll also support our account managers, sales and marketing teams.

Key accountabilities

  • Use WGSNs STEPIC methodology combined with your industry expertise and foresight to identify trends and signals of change around the world and create strategic forecasts across consumer, product, ingredients, design and sustainability. 

  • Work with a team of strategists and analysts on forecast ideation, creation, editing and scheduling. 

  • Champion equality, diversity, inclusion and sustainability in our culture and content. 

  • Working across WGSN’s content verticals and business functions, collaborating on ideation, content creation and strategy. 

  • Create and deliver presentations, videos and webinars, and deliver internally and externally. 

  • Act as an ambassador for WGSN at trade shows, events and PR. 

  • Work with WGSN commercial teams to build and maintain strong client relationships and drive new business.

Skills, experience & qualifications required

  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the beauty industry across multiple markets and categories and/or specific category expertise. 

  • Ideally, you will have experience in either NPD, buying, trend forecasting or be from an editorial background, and have a good base knowledge of brands, products, ingredients, innovations and manufacturing. 

  • Strong knowledge of the global beauty market around consumer behaviour, generational shifts and retail shifts across the industry. 

  • Strong level of ability in writing and reporting. 

  • An understanding of the role data and analytics play in commercial success. Ability to work and interrogate qualitative and quantitative data to extract meaningful insights. 

  • Excellent organisation, communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work within an international team to ensure production standards, reports or outputs are of a consistently high standard and submitted on time. (please note the team is based in multiple time zones) 

  • Able to navigate across cultures, English fluent. Fluency in other languages is an advantage.

  • Solid years of experience. 

  • Good working knowledge of Google software, spreadsheets, analytics
