As parts of the world open up, our global team of experts highlight the rising cities for 2022, from Goa’s flourishing creative scene to city safaris in Nairobi.

St Petersburg (St Pete for short) has become a hub for the creative and culinary scene in Florida. Located just 40 minutes from Tampa, the downtown district continues to expand with art-driven establishments, breweries and murals. Its waterfront pier is newly erected with an educational aquatic centre, public art displays and plenty of green spaces to encourage outdoor lifestyles.

The Dali Museum is a must-see destination when visiting St Pete. It is home to some of the most well-known artworks from the surrealist, such as Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea, which inspired CryptoPunks' current NFTs. The permanent collection features an augmented reality component that adds another layer of inspiration via the museum’s app.

For a safari-in-the-city escape, consider Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The buzzing city is renowned for its hospitality and entrepreneurial spirit that is best experienced while thrifting at the Gikomba Market. Recharge at the memorable Giraffe Manor, where you can encounter the gentle giants throughout the property. The hotel is a stone’s throw away from the city, where a nightcap at The Alchemist is recommended.

The Maasai is one of the most significant tribes in Kenya and is known for its nomadic lifestyle and traditions. One of the best places to immerse in its culture is the mobile Maasai Market, which celebrates its craftsmanship through artworks, jewellery and decorative pieces.

Whether you want to escape the city rush or transition into a new remote working destination, Goa has a lot to offer. Situated on the western coast of India, the state boasts a thriving entertainment industry that offers guests year-round events as well as an array of culinary experiences that explore its unique Portuguese and Indian heritage. Discover Freedom Tree and Sacha’s Shop, both celebrating local craftsmanship in the form of tableware, linen and furniture.
