The team required a design innovation strategy for increased customisation of home appliances, tapping into interior trends and future consumer preferences.


To help LG with its design process, WGSN Mindset, our consulting division, provided a comprehensive analysis of CMF (Colour, Material, Finish) elements for each product category. Leveraging proprietary WGSN trend intelligence, WGSN recommended the CMF directions for consumer electronic devices relevant to the LG product line.

The CMF Trends report, created specifically for LG, enabled the team to identify the most important trends that would impact their brand and category. To forecast across the next 1-2 years, WGSN identified the macro trends that would be impacting future design. This was translated to CMF through emerging aesthetics and materials in parallel industries and the creative environment that will be shaping this sector.

To make the research as actionable as possible, WGSN provided guidance on how to execute the trends in product through different CMF combinations.
