A commercial jewellery trend here sees designers plunder the depths of the ocean for inspiration next season. Working as part of our wider Water babies accessories trend, we noted seashells, starfish, lobsters, crabs and coral twigs decorating novelty earrings, necklaces and cocktail rings. Look to enamel coatings for a splash of colour or pearls and nacre for sea-inspired material directions.

Deco jewellery is probably the most commercial way of working the Twenties trend into accessories collections next season. Key items include plate necklaces, geometric-shaped earrings and enamelled bracelets, with the season's lucite or perspex plastics echoing the bakelite of the era. Consider working Deco geometrics into tribal stories for a new season update on the perennial summer theme.

We noticed a subtle Egyptian theme running through many of the shows this season, fusing Deco-style patterns with geometric cutouts and foiled metallics. For accessories we see this translate into mystic motifs and emblems drawn from ancient Egyptian-Roman culture. Key motifs include serpents, ankhs, sun discs and eagles, while the coiled cuff or bracelet becomes THE key item.
