WGSN introduces new Advisory Board with appointment of renowned industry expert
January 26, 2015
WGSN, a company that gives creative-led businesses the confidence to lead by using global insights to get ahead, today announced that Simon Collins, former Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons School of Design has been appointed as Chairman to the Company’s brand new Advisory Board. Already established as a global leader in delivering insights and inspiration to creative organizations, WGSN’s Advisory Board will serve to challenge the Company and ensure that its creative agenda is ever-evolving in order to maintain its position in the marketplace. Collins will help provide creative guidance on WGSN’s corporate vision, future partnerships and innovative client offerings.
“Simon’s appointment shows the importance we place on identifying and engaging creative minds that will help us realize our vision for WGSN in 2015 and beyond,” said Jose Papa, CEO of WGSN. “His extensive background working in design and academia, with influential brands, government institutions and beyond, combined with his creative and innovative thinking, made bringing him on board a natural decision. Simon’s expertise will be invaluable to our brand as we expand our line of innovative technologies and reach greater heights.”
WGSN believes in creativity and empowering businesses to behave like pioneers. As such, it will leverage Collins’ experience and insights to help the Company better understand today’s rapidly changing global marketplace, to continue to challenge the status quo and to deliver a fresh perspective.
“WGSN is a first-class team of passionate innovators, creators and problem-solvers and I am looking forward to helping them reach new heights in 2015. I am confident that together we will find unique solutions to our industry’s commercial issues and creatively disrupt brands until they feel empowered and able to lead,” said Simon Collins.
Various members of WGSN’s leadership team, including CEO, Jose Papa and Chairman, Duncan Painter, as well as several international CEO’s and industry heavyweights – which will be announced at a later date, will join Collins on WGSN’s board of advisors.
The Board is international in nature – with executives in Europe and South America, and is comprised of business executives, communicators, designers, academics and digital entrepreneurs. The Board will meet regularly and will engage with WGSN’s clients and partners across the globe, as it did late last week at the Museum of Art and Design for its CREATIVE DISRUPTION event, which brought together senior executives in the retail, fashion and technology space, and featured speakers from Google, Muzse Labs, King & Partners and Byronesque.com.
