New York: Maria Cornejo’s work has garnered her a cadre of intensely loyal fans, if not particularly wide renown. The combination of ease, simplicity and sophistication has made her clothing irresistible, especially to New York fashion types. Cornejo always presents a range of compelling prints on display, and this season was no different. She has been playing with photo prints for the last few seasons, and her current version was an image of a metal fence taken at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. She also included ombré and geometrics. For silhouette, Cornejo worked with the soft volume and rounded shapes for which she is known. A lapel-less version of a classic motorcycle jacket felt new, as did the feather-like pile the designer used to embellish her dressed-up pieces. –Joanna Manganaro
