FINDING A BALANCE
Paris: For his second season showing in Paris, Zac Posen seemed to be more relaxed and confident, returning to daywear after last season’s feather-filled boudoir fantasy. The clothes were real and wearable, but also touched on his signature elements – body-con silhouettes, intricate seaming, piecing. Pencil skirts and pieced jersey tops were classic Posen reimagined for the workingwoman, and cropped slim pants were on-trend. Though the new simplicity was certainly a positive, some looks seemed almost too pared down, missing the designer’s signature theatricality. Fun furs and va-va-voom eveningwear were Posen at his finest. While it seems the designer is still grappling with who he is since his move to the big leagues, this season’s collection was closer to getting it right.
