New York: The celebs, both A-list (Claire Danes, Paz de la Huerta) and not (Kristen Cavallari from The Hills and Carmen Electra), were out in full force to support Zac Posen’s new lower-priced line Z Spoke, which is no surprise considering the designer has always been closely connected to Hollywood. The Z Spoke collection was less about red-carpet glam, however, and more about girly separates for day. Drawing from the playful quirkiness of his past few collections, Posen easily translated this youthful ebullience for his new line’s clients. With the help of illustrator Daisy de Villeneuve, Posen presented cheeky tees featuring an array of smiling fruit graphics and cheerful printed separates. Tailored short suits, swingy coats and high-waisted cropped pants hinted at Mod inspirations, while corset details celebrated femininity. Fun with an insolent edge, Z Spoke is sure to appeal to fans of Zac Posen’s main line, who may not have the means or the occasion to slip into one of his glamorous gowns.
