Yigal Azrouël

New York: Yigal Azrouël has amassed a following for his draped dresses that are at once sexy and sophisticated, but for F/W 10 the designer expanded his offerings to include covetable separates. Soft tapered trousers and simple knit tops were basics that will appeal to every woman, while slim-fitting knit pieces with angular extending side panels looked fresh. Oversized chunky cardigans and sweaters had a woodsy feeling on their own, but worn over black trousers with leather panels, they took on a cosmopolitan air. The mostly neutral palette was brightened with shocking red and rich butterscotch used for outerwear or fluttering blouses with a single flounce that extended from the bust to the cuff. The new separates are a smart move for the designer, but his best work continues to be his dresses. This season, they were long sleeved and appeared somewhat reserved from the front, with a sexy open back.
