New York: As an oncoming blizzard sent Fashion Week attendees scrambling for attire that was both weather-resistant and stylish, Yigal Azrouël put on a clinic on how to do cold weather, chic, in today’s F/W 13 presentation. The designer quoted “the energy of phantasm, danger and chilling allure” in his show notes. A dark palette, dusted with oxidized metallics, set the mysterious, foreboding mood (hint: Nemo is coming), and healthy doses of leather and zippers added to the danger. Voluptuous peplummed sheaths and sinuous one-shoulder evening dresses cut through the frigid temperatures with sultry heat. And as for the chill? Azrouël provided plenty of cozy accessories and outerwear for that, the most enticing including mannish overcoats and tailored parkas trimmed with fur.—Nivara Xaykao
