New York: Yigal Azrouël continued to move in a minimalist direction for S/S 13, stating “nature’s architecture” as inspiration for the collection that felt more monastic than organic. Simplicity was taken to an extreme — silhouettes were either tents or columns, and a limited assortment of fabrics in a neutral palette maintained the calm effect. A handful of openwork knits introduced some texture and color, while oversized eyelet lend a bit of dimension to the overall flatness. The reoccurring peaked hoods evoked modern habits, but perhaps were more of a nod to the inspiration; something one would wear while enjoying a mountainous hike during a spring shower. —Anna Jane Davis
