NEW YORK…Y-3’s showing this season combined its usual sport/street savvy style with sophistication. This time around the looks were more wearable than usual and menswear-esque. A favorite look was the shrunken letterman’s jacket accessorized with sporty riding boots and hat. The asymmetrical blazer with purple velvet piping and trousers with oversized, side pockets and white sneakers was a hit. The toggle coat has been equally prominent for both juniors and young men; here, the waist length cut with a longer shirt layered underneath and full pants looked fresh. The color palette of black, white and grey with touches of tomato red and violet was nice and neutral with a punch. The Adidas stripes were much more subtle in placement than in previous seasons and looked cute as trim around some of the hats. This collection, more practical than most, was an interesting evolution for Yamamoto.
