TRADITION VS FUTURE
New York: In his eighth year of collaborating with Adidas, Yohji Yamamoto continues to design the most luxurious activewear on the planet. For F/W 10, he told WWD that his inspiration was “the tension of two opposite aesthetic ideals: tradition vs future.” The idea was clearly evident in the Prince of Wales plaid “active suit”, a fleece pea coat with leather piping and a wool overcoat embellished with three leather stripes. The silhouettes remained loose and comfortable, but the sophisticated palette of greys, browns and blues gave the collection a chic, ready-to-wear quality. Some of the looks used fabric and color blocking, underlining the designer’s exploration of classic shapes in techno fabrics.
