We can’t help but get excited about the Louis Vuitton Journeys: World Cup campaign – starring well, the greatest soccer players the world has ever seen! Pelé (no last name needed, thank you very much), Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane appear as themselves playing table soccer at Café Maravillas in Madrid. “Three exceptional journeys. One historic game.” The players, hailing from Brazil, Argentina and France each epitomize the love and passion for the game of football.
At first glance, the website showcases a grand slam spectrum of visuals from previous World Cup finals – Pelé in 1970, Maradona in 1986 and Zidane in 1998. Coupled by memorable sound bytes that roar the ever so universal, GOAL!!!!! Each player is interviewed in their native tongue; touching on their unique experiences, winning moments and personal motivations. Quite inspiring and moving to say the least…
Louis Vuitton is creating a one-of-a-kind bag that will encapsulate the coveted World Cup Trophy. We hear the design is under lock and key until the final game, where the trophy will be presented to the winning team.
Previous campaigns have included the likes of film auteur Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter Sofia along with astronauts, Sally Ride, Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lovell to commemorate the 40th anniversary of landing on the moon.
