London-based artist Robert Montgomery publishes his first book, “Echoes of Voices in the High Towers.”
The book is a detailed insight into the working practice of a truly unique wordsmith. Through large-scale installations and billboards around the world, Montgomery introduces the art of the written world to the streets.
His work primarily examines consumerism and creates an uncomfortable presence among street advertising billboards — often provoking passerbys to stop in their tracks.
Words, as a form of artistic expression, are becoming increasingly explored, in opposition to our current image-saturated culture.
Earlier this year we attended the “Words as Words” event curated by It’s Nice That at Selfridges in London, which explored language initiatives such as The Poetry Takeaway – a van providing bespoke poetry to word-hungry customers in less than ten minutes.
