Print Workshop – Levi’s x Anthony Burrill Printed Tees

The Levi’s brand opened its first ever London based print workshop in collaboration with acclaimed graphic designer, Anthony Burrill. The Stylesight Graphics Team was on hand to meet Burrill and get our hands dirty screen-printing one of the limited edition tees.

So this summer, Levi’s® launches its first ever London based in-store Print Workshop, taking place in the iconic flagship store, Regent St, between July 13 and August 3rd.  This interactive project is calling on tourists and Londoners alike to get their hands dirty and screen-print their own Levi’s® T-shirt with limited edition prints, in collaboration with renowned graphic artist, Anthony Burrill.

The Levi’s® Print Workshop is the fifth in a series of workshops dedicated to the art of craftsmanship, and it follows the success of print, photo and film workshops in the most creative cities in the world: San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and most recently, Berlin.

Levi’s® customers and fans are also being invited to get involved in the creative process by suggesting their own London-inspired slogans via Twitter using #PrintLondon or posting in-store via printed cards and a memo board. The most original will be iconized by Levi’s® the following day as the print workshop live T-shirt graphic.

The Levi’s® Print Workshop launches with three iconic graphics created by Anthony Burrill that celebrate London. Burrill, known for his persuasive, up-beat illustrations and his witty approach to lexicon, uniquely captured London’s spirit with a clever play on words.

The limited edition graphic printed tees feature the slogans “THE CITY IS OURS TONIGHT” and “DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?” and are on sale at Levi’s® Regents Street store, Westfield Stratford, Boxpark and Carnaby Street starting July 13th, 2012 . A bespoke graphic T-shirt with the statement “THIS IS NOT THE WEST” has also been created to capture the distinct culture that surrounds East London; it will be available exclusively at Levi’s® Boxpark pop-up store in Shoreditch.

Burrill was born in Littleborough, Lancashire. After studying Graphic Design at Leeds Polytechnic he completed an MA in Graphic Design at the Royal College of Art, London. He now lives and works on the Isle of Oxney, Kent.

Printmaking is an important part of Burrill’s practice and he creates limited edition prints with slogans including “Work Hard and Be Nice to People” that have become mantras for the design community and beyond. Visit his site at anthonyburrill.com
