Witchy Woman

LONDON…The big design messages coming out of London seemed a bit all over the place but one of the few strong directions has been a kind of dark, black magic-meets-sci-fi theme. At the Luella show the first outfit out was accessorized with a witch’s hat which seemed to confirm the designer’s viewpoint that her girl is “cute but always a little sick.” However it didn’t get much scarier than that as this was a collection full of totally wearable clothes. These included black bell-sleeve coats and full-skirted mini dresses, jackets in large plaid with puffed sleeves, short wool toggle coats and smocked blouses plus a fresh variation on the great bags she is known for. That is Luella for you, cute!
