Winter Cheer at J.Crew

New York: Peter Schlesinger’s book, “Checkered Past” was the motivation behind J. Crew’s latest collection; and it was every bit as stylish as the characters referenced in the 70’s based novel. Tom Mora elevated J. Crew classics with considered detail- denim was undone at the hems whilst a neoprene polo and classic suit jacket received a playful injection of sparkle. However, It was the colours that really popped: dyed shearling in sunshine yellow lined a snow parka; a burst of bubble-gum pink on a roll neck sweater was teamed harmoniously with a rich purple wrap skirt. Aside from the colour popping, Mora pushed the brands comfort zone in the right direction with new silhouettes; voluminous grey wool trousers reached gown like proportions, oozing sophistication and newness. Cheerful dressing, for cold winter days. – Anna Ross
