This year’s Met Gala 2016 was all about fashion’s relationship with technology- to tie in with the exhibition ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an age of Technology’, and the red carpet was awash with designers trying to interpret the trend.
While, celebrities in attendance rocked everything from robotic arms (modeled by Zayn Malik) to fibre-optic ballgowns, courtesy for Zac Posen, Willow and Jaden Smith’s Met Gala 2016 outfits impressed with their understated style, which stood out among the bells, whistles, and sea of silver dresses.
Draped in Chanel of course, as Willow is the new ambassador for the brand, and Jaden in Louis Vuitton, the brother and sister duo (known for their gender neutral style) ditched dresses for trouser suits.
“Jaden and Willow Smith mixed grown up sophistication with a futuristic undertone,” says WGSN Womenswear Editor, Robbie Sinclair.
“Jaden’s black and white Louis Vuitton suit looked similar to his costumes in his 2013 movie After Earth whilst Willow wore a slightly retro silhouette. Her cropped trouser silhouette goes against the usual gown expectations of the Met Gala.”
