Haven’t you heard? Europe’s biggest and the world’s most sustainable denim mill Candiani Denim has officially opened its Downtown Design Center, a small laundry and development area where Candiani will research and create new innovations in fabric and washing.  This gives a unique opportunity for Candiani’s LA based premium denim clients to collaborate hand-in-hand with Candiani. Literally.

Los Angeles based denim companies can add one more reason to their list of ‘the west coast is the best coast’ for fashion inspiration, design, and development, one word: Candiani. Candiani’s fabrics are currently used by the majority of iconic LA-based denim brands so this is big news for the LA denim world. Candiani has pioneered the creation of premium denim fabrics plus continues to lead in this field, they are the first denim mill in the world to offer this type of facility to its U.S. based customers. We’ll say it again, this is big!

Staying true to its core value of sustainability, Candiani’s LA Development Center will run its laundry using the infrastructure of a normal office building in Downtown LA, and will consume less water than a standard dry cleaner. A feat in itself, this facility will be a showcase for the future of how the denim industry can thrive in a world of depleting resources and increasingly environmentally-conscious consumers.

The Downtown LA facility will also act as a denim industry hub, hosting talks and events throughout the year. The grand opening was celebrated with an exclusive invitation-only cocktail party on March 16th, and was followed on March 18th, by an exclusive panel talk entitled “The Transformers” (in partnership with Kingpins trade show) to discuss the future of denim.

Global Manager of Candiani Denim Alberto Candiani expresses his excitement on this major move saying: “We are thrilled to be opening our first ever Candiani Denim Design Center outside of our home in Italy. The premium denim history has a huge heritage in LA, that Candiani fabrics have always been a part of. The opening of the Design Center allows us to support the industry even more closely, and help to maintain LA’s status as a leader in the global denim market. At Candiani, we constantly push the boundaries of what is possible in order to create the world’s best denim. Candiani Denim offers quality product for the consumer, whilst being as kind as possible to the environment. We look forward to creating some of our most exciting fabrications yet at the LA Design Center.”  indeed Alberto! indeed.
