Most of us know the trade show drill; grab your entry pass, get that caffeine fix (much needed energy) and then run marathon miles around enormous exhibition halls, finding those essential brands, until your legs eventually give up on you.
Well last week I travelled to Mexico to visit Leon’s ‘manageable sized’ Sapica footwear trade show to see what was on offer.
It’s the first time we at WGSN have ever covered the Mexican fair and let me tell you exhibitors didn’t disappoint.
What makes Sapica so great? Well, it’s set in one of Mexico’s most picturesque cities, Leon, which is renowned for its footwear manufacturing and leather goods. The footwear trade show is one of the most notable in Latin America, and displays well-made and crafted Mexican footwear for all occasions.
Stands showed off their latest AW16 collections showcasing commercial Men’s, Women’s and Children’s styles. While catwalk shows helped to bring the shoes to life with full head to toe looks.
Designs, materials and colours are essential considerations for Mexican brands. Comfort investments also featured throughout the show emphasising supportive technology options to uppers, outsoles and insoles.
So next time you are planning those trade show and inspirational trips make sure you add Sapica to the agenda. If the footwear offerings don’t inspire, the people, culture and food sure will!
