S/S 2012 season has promised incredible footwear for both men and women, and this collection from White Mountaineering is no exception. Launched in 2006 by Japanese designer Yosuke Aizawa, White Mountaineering‘s mission statement is to have the “imagination to fuse design, utility and technology and in the process not submit to marketing or sales needs.”
While silhouettes are simple, upper patterns are refreshed with embroidery, suede bindings and quilted stitching details. For spring, the line explores color and texture with mixed materials such as printed canvas with suede, and nubuck with leather. Contrast is at play with white vulcanized outsoles on almost all styles, and natural gum wedge on an embroidered chukka.
Navajo and camouflage prints are a strong story across the board, creating unique footwear for the fashionable individualist. – Jenn Tello
