Lauren Hutton circa 1970s
Vintage mavericks What Goes Around Comes Around kicked off NYFW with a ready-to-wear presentation inspired by legendary model [and perennial fashion muse] Lauren Hutton. The icon’s breezy elegance was captured in looks that fused elements inspired by the exuberance of Buenos Aires, colonial safaris in Africa and the glamour of Long Island’s Gold Coast. To wit, jet-set friendly separates in printed silks- ranging from pants and skirts to fluid jackets- were paired with classic wardrobe staples like collared shirts and modified blazers for a look that was both polished and exotic. Ascot scarves and fedora hats were a nice masculine counterpoint to romantic feminine looks while oversize tassel necklaces and belts added an alluring swing to exotic styles. Tropical 30s florals were on-trend while 60s-inspired embroideries lent a light, fun freshness to more casual, beach-friendly looks.
