This month our global team has curated a holiday season wish list: made by them, inspired by what they are working on now, and forecasting for the future
It’s the final day of our WGSN Advent calendar (sob!); a calendar like no other. It’s been the perfect way for WGSN Insider readers to meet the team members in our global offices, find out more about what they are working on and why they are coveting certain items. For the final day we’re having some real fun with it, handpicking the toys that the youth market and adults will enjoy equally!
Holiday Wish List: Day 25
WGSN Staffer: Laura Cunliffe, Managing Editor
For those that don’t know me, I’m a complete geek (I freely and somewhat proudly admit to this), I sit in the middle of two brothers with a baby sister so growing up I often inherited my older brother’s toys (and often clothes – which probably says a lot about my dress sense). As a result, toy cars, transformers, Lego and toy soldiers were always available, not a doll or make up set in sight. But as often was the case the toys I did have were second hand or jointly owned, as a result when asked what I would really like to be included in my Advent Calendar list my mind instantly ran into a Lego store, eyed up all the amazing Star Wars offerings, grabbed the Mini Cooper and skipped out of the store:
I own a Mini, she’s silver, super and called Suzy (naturally). She’s the perfect London car, park anywhere and then when let loose in country lanes happily runs along rally car style. The above would be built post Christmas dinner with the ever enthusiastic nephews and then proudly displayed by the fireplace in the lounge. For me Christmas is about family and having something I can share with the youngest members of the clan is always exciting.
Next on my list are these gorgeous ‘shoe porn’ Russell & Bromley Oxford’s. I have these in red and brown currently so there are still a couple of colours to collect. The detail on these shoes are exquisite, they’re simple, androgynous and divine – shoes that make me swoon (and I like shoes of the flat variety, heels and I just don’t go). They can be worn smart suit style or with your everyday jeans, the detail in this delightful footwear adds to any outfit.
I may not look much like the Mary Berry of WGSN (perhaps more the Nigella?) but I really do love cooking, desserts being my ultimate favourite. By February next year I will have a fully functional kitchen, brownies, fairy cakes, cheesecakes everywhere, well at least until April by which point I will probably be in need of a gym subscription.
I first saw the lovely Kitchenaid Stand Mixer over seven years ago on a trip to LA visiting a friend and it really was love at first sight. My friend really wasn’t into cooking but had the perfect home, perfect kitchen with perfect accessories so naturally there standing in the centre of it all was a lovely teal Kitchenaid Mixer, mine would be red to work with my colour scheme – just think of all of the delights I could feed an amazing WGSN Content team (they already think of me as a bit of a feeder, I fear this will just concrete those ideas but it really would look beautiful in my kitchen). Hurry up Santa!
