Holiday Wish List: Day 13
WGSN Staffer: Sidney Morgan-Petro, Retail Editor
At WGSN my job revolves around product – forecasting, analysing and trending it, and often times travelling to find it. By far the coolest part of this job involves the ‘retail safaris’ we take all over the globe – scouting out new boutiques, fresh merchandising ideas and innovative product. Below are a few of my faves that I’ve stumbled across this year
So since this is a wish list I’m going to start off with something that’s not actually for sale but extremely covetable. (If anyone reading this would like to send me a pair that’d be great thanks!) 😉 Take a look at these bad boys…
Adidas launched this one of a kind pair for their collaboration with German artist Ivan Beslic in conjunction with the very cool Afew store in Dusseldorf. The toes are made from real wood to replace the original rubber cap. Pretty sweet right?
Anyhow on to some things you can actually buy….
Yune Ho coat
Trolling around the Lower East Side last week I spotted this killer coat by Yune Ho at local boutique Anthom (this store is amazing, check it out if you haven’t yet.) The design is classic with some unexpected colour blocking that takes it next level. So much yes.
And then there’s these jeans that charge your phone (what?!) yep. Jeans that charge your phone!
There’s always a lot of buzz around the office when it comes to wearables. Speaking to practical and everyday necessity over novelty is a direction we expect to see wearables taking in the future as tech becomes even more immersed into our clothing – as discussed in our A/W 17/18 INfusion forecast.
A recent trip to Chicago’s Belmont Army store got me hooked on pins. This place has a wall to wall pin selection for only $4 a pop – I spent way too much money there, oops. But that was just a gateway drug to my current obsession – Brooklyn’s own Pintrill – perfect for gifting in an easy, on trend, affordable manner that will feel immediately personal and a little different. The New-York centric ones are my fave (of course) designed in collaboration with Nylon Magazine’s Assistant Art Director, Kelly Shami.
And while we’re in a New York state of mind I’ll leave you with these….
Discovered at New York’s Fishs Eddy – a Mecca of modern (and vintage) kitchen essentials – these ‘Brooklynese’ pieces speak to my inner yenta.
