WGSN curation: Introducing The Trend Feed

Behind the scenes at WGSN, the trending process is 24/7.

Our editors around the world are constantly searching for, building and shaping the trends that help form our content. For the first time, we’re giving you firsthand insight into this process.

Introducing: The Trend Feed.

Updated three times a day, it’s a scrolling feed of image-led updates of the WGSN trends, curated so that you can watch them evolve from emerging ideas into cornerstone content.

We’ve been live for a week, and Commissioning Editor and Feed curator Polly Walters profiles here three, burgeoning trends to keep an eye on as the feed evolves.

#BeigeOnBeige

First up is #BeigeOnBeige. “We love the tonal beige layering coming through,” says Commissioning Editor Polly Walters. “It’s a less-is-more aesthetic that’s giving the fashion week streets a sophisticated feel, and it makes for a perfect transseasonal palette too”.

#EasternPromise

#EasternPromise tracks the rapid growth of Eastern motifs and typography as part of Y2K and 2000’s revival.

“As those aesthetics remain prominent within street style, Asia-inspired resort shirts are becoming a go-to” says Walters. “For a key update, look out for these graphics being used to re-energise streetwear staples such as cargo pants”.

#CEOStatus

The S/S 19 catwalks were awash with designers bring a fresh update to smarter dressing, re-appropriating office wear for the modern woman.

“Look out for updates on classics like the above,” says Walters. “Drome updated the perennial white shirt with hand-drawn prints, and paired it with slick leather trousers for a 2018 twist on business attire”.

Miu-Miu are also propelling this #ceostatus trend forward, offsetting tailoring with statement snakeskin and sheer shirting.
