WGSN Alternative Holiday Gift Guide 2017: Day Seven

All Hands and Hearts project- helping rebuild lives

All Hands and Hearts project

At WGSN Insider we’ve been thinking about gifts with a difference this holiday season. Sure, you could buy the same old stuff to clutter your home, or you could give gifts that do more. There’s been such a huge growth in products committed to making the world a better place for us all. So, this year we’ve decided to launch a gift guide with a difference. This year, our gift guide will be focused on cool products that give back and lovely companies with heartwarming values.

Day Seven: All Hands and Hearts

Disclaimer. This isn’t a product. It’s a charity that’s close to my heart, so this year I’m championing it as a gift-worthy receiver in the form of donations.

Dedicated to offering relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts to countries devastated by natural disasters, All Hands and Hearts efficiently and effectively address the immediate and long-term needs of families to help them recover quickly, setting them up for future events with new and improved infrastructure. They’re basically a God send for those going through one of the worst times of their life.

Entirely reliant on volunteers who give up their time to travel to remote areas of the world and help piece lives back together, the charity rebuilds schools, homes and community structures, responding to the world’s worst disasters in record time. From the 2015 Nepali earthquake, to the more recent hurricanes in the US, All Hands and Hearts are there from the beginning to the bitter end, integrating into communities to help in whatever way they can. (Think hosting Thanksgiving dinner for hundreds of flood victims in Detroit to English lessons for building masons in Nepal.)

Feel good factor, All Hands and Hearts project

So, if you’re feeling like you’ve got enough bits and bobs this Christmas, I encourage you to send some dollar their way instead. Without donations, projects are shut down and communities left with half built homes and lives, destroyed by a planet that we continue to abuse as though it’s ours to own. Any amount of support is so greatly appreciated. Better yet, apply to volunteer and use your time to make a real difference. You won’t regret it. Trust me. I’ve done it and I’m itching to do it again.
