WGSN Alternative Holiday Gift Guide 2017: Day Nine

At WGSN Insider we’ve been thinking about gifts with a difference this holiday season. Sure, you could buy the same old stuff to clutter your home, or you could give gifts that do more. There’s been such a huge growth in products committed to making the world a better place for us all. So, this year we’ve decided to launch a gift guide with a difference. This year, our gift guide will be focused on cool products that give back and lovely companies with heartwarming values.

Day Nine: Urban apparel brand Dfrntpigeon

I recently heard about this company here in Portland, Oregon called Dfrntpigeon (pronounced different pigeon). This streetwear company is run by a small group of at-risk and homeless/marginalised youth. It is part of New Avenues for Youth, a nonprofit organization in Portland. Their aim is to help homeless and LGBTQ youth express themselves by way of graphic design, to create paid opportunities, where the youth can do this work and get their foot in the door at other businesses.

As Head of Image Management here at WGSN I love seeing creativity and design being used for good, so I’d love to promote this worthy company.
