We love… The Idler Academy of Philosophy, Husbandry and Merriment

We love the idea of the new Idler Academy in London’s picturesque neighborhood of Notting Hill. Opened last month this bookshop/coffee house/school hybrid is operated by Tom Hodgkinson and Victoria Hull and sells books and quality coffee, as well as running courses in academic and practical subjects ranging from Latin to embroidery, gardening and ukulele for beginners.

A place to read, think and cultivate the mind, founder Hodgkinson is the author of the bestselling book How to be Idle as well as editor of the annual magazine Idler, both publications that ‘campaign against work ethic’. In a world where an increasingly hectic lifestyle dominates, The Idler Academy is a welcome addition to the trend towards slow living, mindfulness and living in the present.
