SPELLBOUND is a name in denim that a lot of people outside Japan are quickly becoming familiar with. Since 1981 the Okayama-born label has been turning out cutting-edge denim clothing in Japan, and now they are making a push to break into the international market. Held in high regard among denimheads, their jeans are best known for authentic washes and high quality construction.

In the early 90s, mother company Domingo (and 3rd eldest denim manufacturer in Japan) believed that “the mass production period” was over, and changed scope to “individual design and craftsmanship (to add value) to production”. And so, SPELLBOUND was born, changing “design and production direction” and evolving them into what Domingo stands for at present: “Denim and Garments manufactured with the highest Standards and Craftsmanship”.

During their 30-year span SPELLBOUND has persisted on this notion, continually reviewing their concepts and redeveloping them into new products, and their F/W 11 lookbook proves it. The Japanese label’s forthcoming collection is a denim line in which both the original texture of materials and the worn-in look are blended into a modern silhouette. A great deal of attention is focused on authentic sewing and details. It is simply a collection of daily wear that can be worn casually, but reserves the integrity of true quality.

Acknowledging the trust and confidence they’ve gained from their customers who know that the garments will endure the test of time, they give each piece individual attention during production, from their iconic jackets to their shirts and pants. Additionally, the brand decided to re-run the original SPELLBOUND 5-pocket jean created in the early 90s.

The brand showcased the new collection at Capsule in Paris and is fast becoming a sought-after Japanese label across Europe and the U.S. Stores including Son of Stag, Barneys New York, Voll Berlin and Killiwatch in Paris pushing the brand.
