Released online last week, the beautifully arresting trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film Black Swan is creating buzz before the film opens the 67th annual Venice Film Festival on September 1st.
With very little information surrounding Black Swan’s premise, the trailer’s release was highly anticipated. While the preview reveals the film to be a psychological thriller based around Swan Lake, it is still hauntingly vague. The trailer builds anticipation through a “less is more” attitude, offering glimpses into the now forgotten medium of ballet. Like Aronofsky’s earlier films Requiem for a Dream and Pi, Black Swan sees a return to the director’s viscerally eerie roots.
We can’t wait for its December 1st release.
