We love…swissmiss

One of our favorite blogs, swissmiss, is turning five and celebrating with a party at Galapagos in DUMBO – as with all swissmiss events the party is oversubscribed so fans can attend virtually by uploading photos of themselves holding birthday messages to be projected on a large screen.

Influenced by the clean, minimal design of her homeland, swissmiss is the design journal of Tina Roth Eisenberg who began the blog in 2005 as a personal visual archive and now has an average of 900k unique visitors a month.

As Eisenberg explains “I’m trying to be extremely approachable, one eye, one voice – people want to connect with the blogger and I want to help people with ideas – the internet has changed entrepreneurship.”

Eisenberg wants to “connect people but not just virtually” so she started a collaborative workspace in DUMBO and with her studiomates launched TeuxDeux, a simple, free To-Do application that has over 80,000 users and was recently mentioned as one of the Top 25 Most Useful Websites by PCWorld.

Swissmiss also hosts monthly CreativeMornings, a gathering of creative types, which includes a 10-minute lecture followed by a 20-minute group discussion. The gathering begins at 8:30am with the topic presentation starting at 9:00am and everyone taking off for work at 10am.
