The buzzed about video, featuring Kreayshawn cohorts Left Brain and Jasper Dolphin of Odd Future, attracted interest from a number of record labels, leading to a contract with Columbia Records purportedly worth a million dollars, and an official single version of Gucci Gucci for sale on iTunes.
In addition to fiscal legitimization, Kreayshawn has attracted the support and admiration of industry legends like Snoop Dogg, while fans have been busy mining the internet for facts on the enigmatic new star’s life, bringing to light fun finds like this punk recording a six-year-old Kreayshawn made with her mother’s band, the legendary Bay Area female surf punks The Trashwomen. – Andrew Luecke
