The latest in a long line of fashion brands heading to alternative cities to host their cruise collections is Louis Vuitton. The Paris-based luxury house will be live from Palm Springs in California today, taking advantage of its sun-drenched oasis, sparkling blue skies and cool mountainous surrounds as a backdrop to its 2016 line.

Referred to as “the cradle of modernist American architecture in the 1950s and 1970s”, the event will be set on the futuristic estate of Bob and Dolores Hope. Expect it be top of the news agenda tomorrow morning. For the collection yes, but also for the fact it is being hosted away from the circus that is fashion week season in New York, London, Milan and Paris otherwise.

As Michael Burke, chief executive of Louis Vuitton, told The Business of Fashion: “The fashion week caravan […] is so hectic, it is extremely difficult to truly stand out from all that noise. So this is one reason why being in Palm Springs alone — nothing happening two days before and nothing happening two days later — allows us to be much more clear and focused.”

Keep an eye on the stream above for live coverage of the show from 6.15pm PST. And otherwise, check out our curation below of some of the best Instagram shots arriving in from the editors, bloggers and celebrities in the desert waiting for it to begin…
