POETRY IN MOTION
New York: This season, Victoria Bartlett drew from the science of motion — kinetic energy and velocity. The result was a seamless meshing of the designer’s signature activewear-inspired silhouettes with the billowing volume of parachute maxi skirts and floor-sweeping pants. Even the prints, blurry streaks of color inspired by the works of Gerhard Richter, seemed to harness intense speed. What truly separated this collection from previous ones though was an esoteric beauty. An abstract feel that permeated in the form of shimmering fluidity, translucent hints of body and an airiness that gave things an undulating, breathing quality. —Anna Jane Davis
