German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has just unveiled its latest model created in collaboration with Apple, called the iBeetle.

The iconic VW Beetle is the first ever car to feature a fully-integrated Apple iPhone. Its dashboard docking station merges both the iPhone and Beetle’s interfaces to let drivers access Spotify, send emails and display vital information, including the oil and coolant temperatures.

Drivers can compare route history and share advice and traveling tips through social networking sites by using the “Trainer” mode feature in the Beetle app. Drivers can also stay up to date with their social network profiles using the “Reader” mode, which lists the most recent Twitter and Facebook messages and also reads iPhone messages out loud. The “Postcard” feature creates digital postcards showing a map of the car’s location and a photo captured by the iPhone of the driver’s view.

Coming in a variety of colors with luxury leather interiors, alloy wheels, and an aluminum effect dashboard, the car is available as a coupe or a convertible.

The iBeetle is currently on show at the Shanghai Motor Show, which runs until April 29, 2013. Keep watching the site for our full coverage of this spectacular automobile showcase. – Babette Radclyffe-Thomas
