Paris: This season Vivienne Westwood drew inspiration from around the world, updating her signature offbeat-ladylike silhouettes with ethnic motifs. Patterns were diverse: batik prints and country florals were crossed with the designer’s own standby pinstripes and British plaids. While the collection was built around Westwood’s go-to items, like Victorian blouses with puffy leg-of-mutton sleeves, origami-draped sheath dresses and ruched pencil skirts, there were afghan-like outerwear shapes and a couple of free-flowing caftans that felt mildly foreign.
