Décor Vintage, Copenhagen
Our seasonal trip up north for Copenhagen Fashion Week yielded more exciting vintage discoveries, namely long-time retailer and Scandinavian fashion-scene-fixture boutique Décor: an excellent gem-filled shop located a short walk from the Norreport metro station in the city center. A selection of vintage clothing, accessories, objets d’art, antique textiles and assorted bibs&bobs from the late 19th century through the 70s-80s awaits the intrepid shopper willing to brave the winter chill, with something on hand for both men and women.
Owner Lone Riis founded the shop in 1989 as a natural progression following a career that included modeling, designing, furniture restoration and fashion consulting. Catherine Deneuve and Helena Christensen are known to stop by, in addition to the city’s top stylists and creative types. Our own visit yielded excellent 30s hats, art deco compact mirrors, and one very special 50s-era tulle circle skirt. For those who can’t make it to the store itself, take a virtual film tour of the boutique courtesy of Montana made by you, a Danish interiors company whose discreet shelving units were neatly tucked into Décor’s magical universe especially for the purpose.
Décor, Romersgade 9, 1362 Copenhagen K, Denmark. Tuesday to Friday, 12 – 6pm, Saturday 10am – 4pm. Closed Sunday & Monday.
