Watch out band jacket, because the fashion forward boys and girls of the world are beginning to switch over to the British redcoat. As recently reported in Stylesight’s Vintage Expeditions: London Report, the redcoat has the fancifulness of the band jacket with the strength and stature of a military-issued garment. And while the band jacket may retain some band geek associations with it, the only associations the redcoat has with it is a conspicuous, butt-kicking military force that wasn’t afraid to be seen. This formidable lad was spotted outside the Dior Homme show in Paris; his crimson coat definitely made him the star in a sea of black. And when the world traveling fashion enthusiasts realize that the London Flea markets are rife with these jackets, I think we will be seeing a lot more. Let the band jacket v.s. British redcoat war begin.
