During a recent visit to Versailles to catch Le XVIIIe au goût du jour exhibit, we crossed paths with this superbly dressed 21st century dandy, roaming the gardens around Marie Antoinette’s former quarters at the Grand Trianon. With the uncharacteristically warm weather of late, France has been enjoying a rather delayed summer, and this ensemble of light neutral tones was perfectly suited for a stroll through the Sun King’s grand estate.
The exhibit itself demonstrated the influence of 18th century fashions on contemporary design, juxtaposing sumptuous ensembles by the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, Thierry Mugler, Maison Martin Margiela, and more with original French costume of the era– all set throughout Marie Antoinette’s former quarters. Scroll down for a selection of key pieces from the exhibit.
