Paris: Viktor & Rolf projected a grown-up Wednesday Adams for Pre-Fall, accentuated by a trompe l’oeil full moon background as well as the clothes themselves. Buttoned-up, Victorian and most certainly gothic, the collection was also delicate and feminine, featuring sheer layers of lace, dangling tie-necks and cascading ruffles. A tiered waterfall of silk spilled down the front of one light grey gown, giving the silhouette an unusual, slippery weight. Trousers were of the fluid variety as well, with wide legs and tied waistbands in deep shades of plum and chocolate. Softness did not translate to jackets, and a few knit wrap styles looked too much like loungewear, but structured satin peacoats and cinched furs more than satisfied the outerwear category. —Nina Stotler
