New York: Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren mixed feminine details with animal-inspired elements for a collection they called “Wild Romance.” The designers have been known to play with exaggeration, and they did so here, adding large pleated flounces to tops and dresses and placing self-fabric bows at collars and hips. The animal influences were expressed through prints and materials. An innovative snakeskin jacquard appeared for a standout pair of tailored trousers, and shaggy furs were used for coats. The sole print in the collection was an oversized croc motif. Tuxedos are something of a signature for Horsting and Snoeren. They are often seen wearing them themselves, and they are included in nearly every one of their collections. This season’s versions featured offbeat details, such as flounces, cutouts, and attached cummerbunds. Comparatively restrained, while still maintaining their signature sense of humor, this was one of the best collections the design duo has created in quite some time. –Joanna Manganaro
