Ivy-covered, wicker-furnished, surrounded by dazzling views of the New York skyline, the Gramercy Park Hotel terrace was the perfect host for a preview of Tori Praver’s new swimwear collection last week. The Resort 2014 range strikes similar notes: sleek enough for urbanites who flock to the Rockaways on a lazy Sunday yet grounded in a crafty, nostalgic ethos that appeals to the bohemian spirit.
It was a particularly inspirational season for Tori Praver, as the model-turned-designer became a new mom – something that shed particular light on her kids’ line, Keiki. For Resort, Praver is also introducing several ready-to-wear pieces like harem pants, kimono robes and cropped tanks that flow seamlessly into her array of figure-flattering suits. (Full disclosure: I live in my Tori Praver tank dress. This miracle dress seriously works for all shapes and sizes and any occasion, so we trust that her ready-to-wear is just as good.)
In the video above, she takes us through the new collection – the seductive palette of desert shades, lush jewels and cool neutrals and the impressive macramé and smocking handiwork that has become her signature. Also, watch for a cameo from her adorable 4-month old baby!
