Creating Tomorrow: clean beauty, tweakment, or both?

Victoria Beckham SS17 show at NYFW
New York: “On this important anniversary, I commemorate the victims of the September 11th”; it was a poignant reminder written on the show notes. Victoria Beckham presented her S/S 17 collection within the Great Hall of the Cunard Building, a fitting venue for such an exquisite collection. This season, there was a calm and free spirit that pervaded throughout Beckham’s presentation with the silhouette evolving with an even looser application, cut in elegantly crafted satins, crushed leather and lace while the colour palette of minty greens, zesty orange, white and tobacco felt fresh and invigorating. The garments themselves were effortless; easy deconstructed sheaths with pleated skirts, drawstring velvet skirts and louche satin trouser suits worn over the teeniest of bralette tops while the wallpaper florals were a delicate addition. This collection provided the desired effect of clever, free-spirited and covetable alternatives for a fresh new season. – Lizzy Bowring
