VIDEO GAME POP
Milan: Electric would be an understatement when describing Christopher Kane’s latest collection for Versus, a whizzing and vibrant Lego-hued affair full of patchworked knits and painted chains. In a brash 80s video game palette of primaries, Kane crafted fit and flare dresses emblazoned with Pac Man dots, matched set cartoon flower pantsuits and zig-zag intarsia sweaters. Sporty mesh carried throughout the presentation, often coated with panels of high shine PVC, while both nylon tops and transparent anoraks were printed with curb chain illustrations. Although some of the accessories were reminiscent of past seasons at Balenciaga, Versus managed to put a fun and unique stamp on playful digital pop culture which will surely resonate with their youthful clientele.—Nina Stotler
