TOUGH + TENDER
New York: Although Vera Wang is known for her floaty, feminine wedding dresses, the designer’s personal style leans towards the more edgy and sleek: black on black and leggings mixed with draped tops are her usual garb. For fall, the split personalities came together, as diaphanous accordion-pleated dresses and ruffly sheer blouses found their match in leather-trimmed leggings, mannish blazers and rugged fur-trimmed parkas. A monochromatic layering of greys, creams and olives allowed the rich contrasting textures and the interplay between tough and tender to shine in one of Wang’s strongest collection in years.
