Vena Cava

New York: When there are earplugs waiting at each seat, you know it’s going to be a good show. Hip all-girl band The Like accompanied Vena Cava’s collection with a catchy number that stuck in attendees’ heads for the rest of the afternoon. Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock once again delivered clothes that are sure to appeal to the downtown darlings who closely follow the brand, but this season the design duo imagined what the Vena Cava woman would wear at her cabin upstate. Inspired by a weekend in Woodstock and the discovery of Sheila Hicks and the 1970s American crafts movement, the designers put out a selection of dresses – ruched jersey, ribbed with a swingy skirt, intricately pieced or sheer and floor-grazing – some featuring their signature line-drawn prints. Washed cupro looked great for lightweight pants and shorts, and roomy wool coats with leather trim were cozy yet stylish.
