Paris: Vanessa Bruno’s collection last fall hinted at the type of unbridled femininity that was to come, with floaty silks amid hard leathers and soft knits under structured coats. For spring, the designer fully embraced her softer side, concentrating on short, pieced dresses in bold citrus-colored florals and shiny, deconstructed crochet. Head-to-toe patterns recalled some of the looks seen in Milan, while the prevalence of neon echoed ideas established over the past few weeks in both New York and Milan. Bruno made these themes her own by giving them a beachy insouciance rather than a cool minimalism, styling highlighter yellow lace shorts with a cutout mesh maillot or experimenting with Miami-ready, dark jungle motifs. With this collection, S/S 11 in Paris just became a lot more fun.
