Valentino Pre-Fall 2017: An Optimistic, Graceful Collection

New York: Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli presented a sublime collection held at the Beekman Hotel, city and venue providing a significant milestone for both creative director and brand. Piccioli stated that “New York is the land of opportunity, a place where dreams come true”, also adding, “It’s important to give daywear a touch of dreams”. There was a certain amount of dreaminess to this presentation with fairytale dresses worn with fabulous over-the-knee flat boots, eschewing a certain daywear vibe throughout while slip-on sneakers were a welcome addition to the carefully crafted dresses and pyjama sets.

Intricately placed beading and handpainted blooms appeared alongside delicate florals, sprayed over the sweetest of dresses; flowers being the synonym of optimism.

The evening wear too was exquisitely rendered in embroidered graceful columns of lighter than air silks. All this to Nina Simone’s “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life. . . and I’m feeling good.” – Lizzy Bowring
