Urban Tribe

New York…Hervé Leger

Tribal motifs in snakeskin and fur combined with a palette of natural colors for the Azrias’ F/W 09 collection, pleasantly standing out from the feminine looks of previous seasons. The body-conscious silhouette with pronounced shoulders remained true to the Hervé Leger name, yet their most resonant inspiration came from, “the beat of an urban tribe.” Could this be a possible Mad Max reference? Colors like tiger’s eye, steel and copper worked well on knit textures woven in with exotic skins. These urban warriors were prepared for any surprises that the world throws at them…

Talk about a texture overload! Fantastic use of moody metallics and subtle sparkle. There are only so many ways to reinterpret this silhouette and Lubov and Max have done it really well here. The shoes were sky high and reminded me of something the Mulleavy sisters would feature based on past seasons.

What girl doesn’t like to feel like a goddess on one of Leger’s body strap-downs (as I like to refer to them)? I have to admit that I am getting over the whole tribal trend, but I love how the Leger house has re-interpreted it here; with great textures, and the construction of his pieced skin tight dresses.
